"Until Nights Are Brighter" was recorded from January to March 2005. We literally just finished it an hour prior to
the CD release party. You know how we do. Originally titled "Open Fire" (a line from "Unlimited Ammo"), the name was changed
to "Until Nights Are Brighter" to reflect the mood of the EP. This was also our first recording with Matt behind drums (our
bestest drummer ever). We had the regular slew of DL bad luck. Erik bought a Mac for the recording, but we had all sorts of problems
and had to transfer all the files to Nick's PC, where everything was finally mixed/mastered.
"Smile!" was actually supposed to be on the last demo, however it just didn't sound right. With Matt's new drums, the song
really took shape, so here it is. "Unlimited Ammo" was written about 2 weeks before
we started recording and almost didn't make it, but obviously did. David also came up with a new, much better chorus riff to “One Life Stand” at the very last second.
Despite all these last second modifications, I wouldn’t have had the CD turn out any other way.
You can get all the songs by purchasing the CD at a show ($5), or emailing us (band@thedeadletters.com) for mail order ($5 + Shipping). Thanks to everyone for their support and for the awesome turn-out at the CD release party
